The Deadline for Voter Registration is Looming!
Poster art by Chris Piascik.

Okay, I'm gonna make this real simple for everyone. Time is almost up to register to vote! With such an important election coming up, I want to make sure everyone in Los Angeles who can vote, and wants to, uses that right. More damn people voted on American Idol than for any President (link). That's just sad. So, quit procrastinating; if you have time to smoke a cigarette, grab a snack, or look at internet boobies, you have time to register to vote. So, please do it now.

Here's a very quick guide for Angelinos, (and pretty much Californians in general) to get you in that voting booth in a month.

1. Make sure your registered at your current address.

Even if you think you're registered already, this isn't a bad idea. If you've moved since you last registered, you'll need to re-register at your new address and it takes less than a minute to find out. Pick up the phone right now. Call this number: 1 (800) 815-2666. Nicely ask if you are registered to vote, you'll answer a few quick questions and get your answer. If you are, congratulations! If not, go to step 2.

2. Register to Vote.
Registering to vote is easier than you may think, and takes very little time. If you have a printer, go to this website, select your county from the drop down menu, and the form will download to your computer. Fill out the very easy form, print it, SIGN IT, and mail it immediately.

If you don't have a printer, (or Adobe Acrobat to read the form), don't sweat it. You can get the form at a majority of County buildings, post offices, libraries, city halls, fire stations, Department of Motor Vehicles, and public assistance offices (DPSS or WIC). Click on those links to find the nearsest to you. That's a lot of places for you to choose from, and I can guarantee that one of them is within a quick bike-ride or walk of you.
